Claiming JobSeeker Payment (JSP) 001-19051501

This file discusses how a person can declare JSP online, or with help from a Service Officer utilizing Assisted Customer Claim (ACC).

JSP eligibility and when to declare

Customers should claim as quickly as possible online by means of the Services Australia website.

To receive JSP a person should:

- be of qualifying age for JSP

  • satisfy Australian home requirements for JSP
  • be jobless, and
  • searching for work and ready to participate in activities that increase their possibilities of discovering a job, forum.batman.gainedge.org or
  • not able to work, study or try to find work due to medical condition, illness or injury, or
  • employed or studying complete time and are not able to undertake these due to a medical condition, disease or injury and have a job or research study to return to

If the customer has indicated they are not able to work due to a short-term incapacity, see Customers claiming JobSeeker Payment (JSP)/ Youth Allowance (YA) (Incapacitated).

Disability Support Payment (DSP) sus/can RTW clients declaring JSP

A DSP consumer whose payments have been suspended/ cancelled return to work (RTW) can claim an alternate payment when:

    - they are still working 30 or more hours per week, and
  • their income falls listed below the JSP earnings test cut-off

For instance, a self-employed DSP customer is still working 30 hours each week, but their income has reduced. See Rates and Thresholds.

In all cases, check if the customer is qualified to have their DSP renewed before taking a look at another payment. See Commencing or going back to work or self-employment Disability Support Pension (DSP).

    Early claims for JSP

Customers can lodge an early claim for JSP as much as 13 weeks before the very first day of eligibility. On the day they become certified they need to offer their checking account balances, proof of earnings and employment separation details.

Customers can start an early claim online. They will be able to complete Your personal details, Your circumstances and Your monetary details.

If making an early claim after a break in payment of 39 weeks or less, the client will have less concerns to address in the online claim.

Customers can not complete Review and Confirm, Next actions or submit the claim online up until within 14 days of being qualified for JSP. They will get a pointer alert 2 week before the eligibility date.

An apprehended person might lodge a claim up to 3 weeks before release from prison. These claims are ruled out early claims as the client is qualified however not payable when they declare.

Customers moving from an existing income support payment can lodge an early claim approximately 28 days before the date of credentials.

    Online claims

Customers should create a myGov account and connect their Centrelink online account to it.

Once the customer has linked their Centrelink online account to myGov, to start an online claim for JSP they need to:

    - check in to myGov and gain access to their linked Centrelink online account
  • guarantee their personal information are correct. From the menu, pick the My information > Personal and contact information > My profile to make updates
  • from the menu, select Payments and claims > Claims > Make a claim. To learn more, see Claiming JSP online table in the Self-managed tab

Customers claiming or transferring to JSP will see a decreased concern set as part of their online claim if they are:

    - presently in invoice of an income assistance payment, or
  • have cancelled from payment in the last 52 weeks

    Streamlined claims

Sometimes, a job is presented to the consumer on their Centrelink online account homepage up to 28 days prior to losing credentials for their existing payment.

The job will allow the client to undertake a streamlined claim process to submit a claim for JSP.

See Transfer to JobSeeker Payment (JSP) from another payment.

    Assisted Customer Claims (ACC)

ACC can be utilized for consumers deemed unable or inappropriate to complete an online claim or candidates. ACC should also be used in instances where a paper claim for Jobseeker Payment (SU716) is lodged at service centres, by means of uploaded files, post or fax. See Claim lodgement of Centrelink Claims.

' Channel Hopping' within ACC implies:

    - the customer can start a claim online and a Service Officer can take it over, or
  • a Service Officer can help a consumer begin a claim which can then be finished by the consumer in their Centrelink online account

    Remote clients

If the customer lives in a remote area and usually uses an agent, Remote Service Centre, or phone to do organization and is unable or unsuitable to finish an online claim, the consumer should be transferred to the Remote Claims Processing (RCP) to start their ACC.

The Remote Claims Processing (RCP) group provides specialised remote service for disgaeawiki.info determined remote customers.

    The customer should have:

    - the remote indicator revealing on the Customer Overview, or
  • a property address in a remote area

To check the address is in a remote location:

    - browse the town name in Office Locator
  • view the Towns Result List
  • view the Remoteness column

    Customers with nominee arrangements

Correspondence candidates can submit an online claim for JSP on behalf of their principal.

If a correspondence nominee contacts to declare JSP on behalf of their principal, offer an online claim initially. If they decrease the online claim deal, a Service Officer must run Assisted Customer Claim (ACC) with the candidate.

If a candidate is claiming on behalf of an individual, encourage the candidate to help the individual claim JSP utilizing the individual's Centrelink online account. If the nominee is unable or unwilling to do so, a Service Officer is to run ACC with the candidate.

    Claim submission exceptions

In some situations, it may not be reasonable for a consumer to finish all Required jobs prior to submitting their claim. These include exceptions when certain vulnerabilities exist, see Circumstances Change Monitor (CCM).

Relocating to an Area of Lower Employment Prospects (MALEP)

Do not undertake any MALEP evaluations. The Department of Social Services (DSS) have paused all Relocating to an Area of Lower Employment Prospects (MALEP) assessments.

If the client has moved address within the previous 26 weeks, Services Australia need to figure out if they have minimized their work prospects by relocating to a brand-new place.

If this is the case, the Service Officer should investigate a possible MALEP employment associated exemption duration.

Unemployed due to a voluntary act or misbehavior

If the consumer has actually willingly left work or been dismissed due to misconduct in the 12 weeks prior to claiming, a joblessness failure or a Joblessness Non-Payment Period (UNPP) might have happened.

Do not generate compliance action up until the Employment Separation Certificate (SU1) (or equivalent) and/or supporting proof is received to identify a non-compliance event has actually taken place.

See Unemployment due to a voluntary act or misbehavior.

    RapidConnect

Most task seekers are subject to RapidConnect and are advised of their requirements or an exemption to RapidConnect throughout their Participation Interview at the Jobseeker Online Claim Appointment.

Job hunters who are eligible for a recommendation to a Workforce Australia or other specialist company, will have an initial visit reserved during the Participation Interview. Attending this very first service provider visit is known as the task hunter's RapidConnect requirement.

For the most part, meeting RapidConnect requirements will figure out the start date of the task seeker's earnings assistance payment. Note: this undergoes job seekers satisfying any waiting durations and qualification requirements.

    Mutual obligation requirements

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) will instantly refer new task hunters to the Workforce Australia online work service. This leaves out job seekers living in Community Development Program (CDP) regions.

Higher rate of JSP for 55 years and over

aged 55 years and over who have been getting an income support payment or allowance for 9 or more constant months may be entitled to a greater rate of payment. The system will automatically determine this and use the proper rate for qualified customers.

    Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Pre-filled Single Touch Payroll (STP) information may present to consumers throughout their online claim. Employer details, name and ABN, will be provided to the customer if STP data is offered to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) within 8 weeks prior to claim.

Customers will have the alternative to validate the employer within the claim. If a customer confirms the company, as soon as on payment, STP pre-filled earnings will exist to the consumer when they report. If the consumer does not verify the employer, as soon as on payment, the STP employer might present to the customer again when they report.
